The fourth major of the year is upon us and the quest for The Open Championships iconic trophy, the claret jug, begins Thursday.
If you’re a golf tragic like me you’ll be be up most nights this weekend catching all the action from Royal St George’s on the Kent Coastline. Yes you read that correctly, nights!
The Open boasts one of the more viewing friendly timeslots for us Aussies with action starting from 3:30pm Thursday and Friday and 6:00pm over Saturday and Sunday.
The picturesque fairways are surrounded by dangerous, ball swallowing rough, so driving accuracy will be key. This spells bad new for Byrson Dechambeau who whilst leading the PGA in driver distance ranks a measly 189th in accuracy hitting 53% of fairways. Whilst bad news for Bryson, this opens the door for one of our best bets of the week :
Colin Morikawa.
Morikawa currently sits 1 spot outside the top 10 in accuracy off the tee and 2nd in GIR. Morikawa has finished in the top 20 in all of this years majors with a stand out 4th place at the US Open earlier this year, we think he is primed for victory.
Best Bets: We like Colin Morikawa to win, but cannot go past him to finish in the top 10 at $3.75
Value Bets: All aboard the Spieth hype train, Lots of insiders backing Jordan to FINALLY break his major drought this weekend – He’s currently paying $17 to take it out, or if your like us jump on Colin Morikawa for the outright win at $31.
Multi Bet: We’ve gone with Tyrell Hatton, Brooks Koepka and Cam Smith to finish in the top 20 at $17
Good Luck and Happy Punting!!!
