NFL: 2021 NFL SEASON PREVIEW plus Week 1 Bets

By Mitchell Krause aka YTP KING –

Now we go, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the start of the greatest money heist in the world which is known as the NFL. I have been betting on all sorts of weird shit for the last few months, but my baby is back, and she has her legs open ready to give.

A few points of order first, this is merely my opinion. If you don’t agree then I don’t give a fuck. Any tips I do give in my weekly blog you do not need to bet on, if you can’t afford it then get a job or be better at tipping. NFL is nearly as unreliable as me on a Saturday night coming home, I may stick to my word, or I may come home Sunday night.

FUTURE BETS:

As you may pick up over the next 19 weeks, I am a BIG Aaron Rodgers fan, and that’s why I am trusting A-Rod after his little pre season hiatus to go back to back MVP @ $11.

Patrick Mahomes at $6 looks a safe bet but his health and Kansas City weapons make it hard.

A smokey is Christian McCaffery @ $51 as I think he is in fort a huge offensive year in a lack luster Carolina Offense. Also Justin Herbert at $23 in his second year could be a nice little future bet.

Offensive Rookie of the year is a tough one with so many good young QB1 coming into their own in the preseason. Trevor Lawrence at $4.50 will all depend on how good the Jags can be under new coach Urban Meyer.

Mac Jones, Justin Fields & Trey Lance all who are current QB2 could cause Lawrence some issues depending on when they get a shot on the field, if Mac Jones gets named QB1 week 1 then book it, he will win OROY @ $11.50.

UPDATE – Cam Newton has been released by the NE Patriots, Mac Jones into $5.50 to win OROY, Lawrence now out to $5.05. Free money lads.

Defensive Rookie of the year I’m leaving alone as no real stand out, but I like the cowboys draft pick Micah Parsons at $8 but I do not trust the cowboys as they are weaker than me with a packet.

Defensive Player of the year is normally a one-horse race with the most dominant big man of our era Aaron Donald sitting atop the mountain 3 of the last 4 years, but TJ Watt, Myles Garret, Nick Bosa and Chase Young have been closing in over the last few years. Donald is currently $6 and would be a safe bet but I like TJ Watt at $8 who I personally think was robbed last year. Roughie for DPOY Devin White with the defending Superbowl champs @ $34, the man chooses violence every morning when he wakes up!

Superbowl Champs Tampa Bay Bucs have managed to somehow bring back all their starters from last season, and The KC Chiefs with Patty Mahomes are looking for redemption after a poor Superbowl showing both are $6 and $7.50 respectfully. But I think this is the year the Green Bay Packers get over the hump at $15. They have fallen short the last 2 years but a renewed Aaron Rodgers who is ultimately playing on a 1 year prove it contract to the rest of the NFL. Also, if Baker Mayfield can not turn the ball over the Cleveland Browns at $17 is a juicy little bet.

College Football Heisman Winner,  fair to say Alabama QB Bryce Young at $4.50 is a near lock, after watching him week 1 it will be hard for anyone to beat the Nick Saban juggernaut.

Over/Under Win totals:

  1. Denver Broncos Over 8.5 @ $1.78

2. Detroit Lions Under 5 @$1.78 (Could go 0-17)

3. Indi Colts over 8.5 @1.78

4. Tennessee Titans over 9 $1.60

WEEK 1

Thursday night football opener sees the Dallas Cowboys head to reigning defending Superbowl champs Tampa Bay, the line is 7.5 and I can’t see the cowboys getting within 21 of the bucs. They started slow last year the bucs but I don’t think a Superbowl hangover will effect Tom Brady in what feels like his 40th season.

With an action-packed week 1 – some lines I really like are as followed:

  • Buffalo -6.5 v Steelers, Big Ben will take a few weeks to get back in shape
  • San Francisco -7.5 @ Detroit, Detroit won’t win a game all year
  • Washington +1.5 vs LAC, Washington D too good
  • NE -2.5 Vs Dolphins, Mac Jones coming out party
  • GB -2.5 @ Saints, Saints don’t have a starting QB
  • Baltimore -4.5 vs Raiders, Raiders too hot and cold

Sunshine Coast 5/9/2021 $unday $et by Eddie Franklin

Race 1

15. Furnace On Fire (2) T: S O‘Dea & M Hoysted J: Baylee Nothdurft W: 57.0kgSent for a spell after a poor showing on debut finishing fifth.

Has now had two dominant on speed trials and won its most recent by a lengthy margin.

A horse with on the speed pattern is something to like at this track and is suited to win a race now.

Can settle from the inside draw and run well.

Solid chance.

Race 3

6. Modelka (8) T: A J & T Edmonds J: Zac Lloyd (a3) W: 57.0kg

Delivered a win at short odds last start at Ipswich.

Freshened now and has raced well at this track previously.

Gets in well again with the 3kg claim and is two from two at 1200m.

Has been kept to shorter races since and rates highly to take the next step up in grade.

One of the major players.

Race 5

8. Tycoon Bella (3) T: Natalie McCall J: Ryan Maloney W: 58.5kg

Missed a lip two starts back as favourite at the track.

Ran on respectably from midfield to place at Gold Coast last start.

Has three placings from four runs this prep and gains top jockey Ryan Maloney here.

Can get out and lead or tuck in nicely from the good barrier to give them something to chase down.

Top chance to win here.

Race 7

7. Purple Diamond (13) T: S W Kendrick J: Kyle Wilson-Taylor W: 55.5kg

Got into a contest with another runner two starts back to finish fourth at the track.

Was able to find the line well to place last outing at Ipswich.

Will be fitter for the runs and jockey Kyle Wilson-Taylor retains the ride.

Will appreciate the good track and can run well if able to find some space from the outside gate.

In the mix.

(Prices are current at 10:00am Saturday 4th September 2021 through NSW TAB)

R4 #4 Navy Cross ($2.50) – Another Sydney horse up looking to pick up a cheque, been running around with bigger weights and gets relief to 55.5 here. 3rd in a rough habit no issue track. Maps to lead uncontested and be too good… WIN (NEXT BEST)

R7 #3 Ready Babe ($17/$3.60) – Complete forgive latest. Drawn well here to sit a pair or 2 back. Like the booking of Stewart. Winnable race. E/W (if another scratches bet small WIN)

R8 #1 Rhapsody Rose ($4.40) – Class, simply should be too good, even with the weight and wide draw. WIN

R9 #4 Avowal ($8.50) – Run some exceptionally good times last time, bit more weight here (has carried it before), a good steer from the low draw and no reason the horse can’t be right in the finish! EW (BEST) – Note: Samurai is the other EF horse and danger.

I also have one I like racing in Sydney today:

R4 #4 Super Effort ($5) – Looks the bet of the day with luck, Ford looks to just smother up in behind them and get every possible turning for home. Bit of X factor about this fella I reckon. WIN BEST

OPINION: Micro Shares, more like Micro Rort!

By Hilly –

Having seen a fair few ads popping up lately promoting the buying of micro shares in horse ownership. With this being promoted as a cheap alternative to becoming involved in horse ownership, I thought I’d give my opinion.

I believe before diving into any type of horse  ownership do your research. There is many options out there and one that will suit you better.  If you ask me, the selling of micro shares is just a marketing ploy and money raising exercise.

A recent advertisement I saw was trying to sell one thousand micro shares in 10% of a horse. With all micro shares sold the 10% value was near doubled. Add the $54 per micro share management fee for the syndicator. You do the math. What a joke I say.

Then your share of prizemoney at 0.01% is literally a pittance and wouldn’t come close to even covering your initial outlay!

You can probably now gather I’m not a fan. I believe firstly come up with a budget, even gets some mates involved to lower the cost. There is more value in researching a trainer seeing what shares they have available, whether in buying a share usually 5% to 10% or more if you can afford it.

They may even have lease options which are good as there is no upfront cost. One of the best things being a horse owner is the race day experience. Being an owner is free entry to the members for the day. This is usually capped at 20 owners.

The same goes for owners names in the racebook. Make what is right for you, horse ownership can be alot of fun.  Don’t go throwing you hard earned down the drain with no reward.
